Guided walleye fishing · Lake Oahe

A full day on the water, handled start to finish

Bait, boat, electronics, cleaning, and 35 years of local knowledge — you bring a smile and some snacks.

Quick answer

A guided trip with Wade's Lake Oahe Adventures is a full-day walleye trip on Lake Oahe out of Mobridge, SD. Wade provides the boat, gear, bait, and electronics, fishes you through the day, then cleans and packs your catch. Up to four anglers per boat.

A typical day

From the first phone call to the last fish

Most trips start with a phone call to check dates, then a little back-and-forth while you line up your group. No deposit — you show up and we go fishing. We're usually on the water around 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., though we'll start earlier or later depending on the weather and wind.

"We watch the weather. Sometimes we start earlier to beat the wind — we want you comfortable out there." — Wade

Where do you fish on Lake Oahe?

We follow the walleye through the season. Early spring they're up north toward the state line after dropping down the Missouri from Bismarck; by fall they've worked down the reservoir toward the Highway 212 bridge. Wade knows the seasonal patterns — and the stumps to avoid — from decades on this water. Planning your dates around the bite? See Wade's guide to the best time of year to fish walleye on Lake Oahe.

What species will we catch?

Walleye is the number-one target and what most folks want for the table. But Lake Oahe is more than walleye — smallmouth bass (one of the lake's best-kept secrets), northern pike (some too big to net), and plenty of good-eating catfish. On a good day we'll limit walleye by midday and chase something else after.

What do I need to bring?

Not much — a smile, some water, a few snacks, and your South Dakota fishing license. Wade keeps water in the boat and handles the gear. Bring a sack lunch; we usually eat on the run because we're busy fishing.

What about bigger groups?

Wade runs up to two boats (about eight people) himself. For larger or corporate groups, he also guides for New Everett Resort and can help arrange a bigger fleet — up to eleven boats in a day.

Good to know

Common questions

Do you clean the fish?

Yes — it's full service. Every fish is cleaned, bagged, and we offer Cryovac packing so you can freeze and transport your catch.

What if I don't want to bait my own hook?

No problem — that's Wade's deal. Hand him the lure and he'll get a fresh minnow or worm on faster than you can, and drop it right back to you.

Is it good for older or first-time anglers?

Absolutely. Wade takes special care getting everyone in and out of the boat safely and fishing out of the wind. Many of his folks just want a comfortable, good day on the water.
