Quick answer

Wade's Lake Oahe Adventures is a guided walleye fishing service out of Mobridge, South Dakota. Wade While has fished Lake Oahe every season since 1988. Trips run full-day, your fish are cleaned and packed, and you can stay on-site at the Lazy A Ranch.

Why Lake Oahe

A big lake, and somebody who knows it

Lake Oahe runs about 140 miles — river channels, big bays, and flats most folks never see. You can fish all day and hardly see another boat. That local knowledge is the difference between a long day and a good one.

"I've been on this water every year since 1988. I know where the fish move, and I know where the stumps are." — Wade

Wade While

I came over the hill into Mobridge in 1988, saw that expansive river, and knew it was home. I've spent my life taking care of people, and that's how I run my trips — full service, no rush, and built on folks who come back. Whether it's your first walleye or your hundredth, I'll take good care of you.

"Sometimes it's not always about catching the biggest walleye."

Common questions

How much does a guided trip cost?

Full-day trips run $550 for two, $625 for three, and $700 for four, and a night at the Lazy A Ranch is $225 for up to 5 guests or $325 for 6 or more. See the full breakdown of what a Lake Oahe fishing guide costs.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes. South Dakota offers one-day, three-day, and annual licenses through Game, Fish & Parks or at Runnings in town. We'll point you the right way.

What should I bring?

Not much — a smile, some water, a few snacks, and your license. Wade keeps water in the boat and handles the gear and bait.

Do you require a deposit?

No deposit. You show up and we go fishing. If it's too rough to be out there, we don't go, and you're not charged.

When's the best time to fish?

June is the most popular — warm weather and the fish are on the feed. Fall runs colder, but it tends to produce the biggest walleye of the year. Read Wade's guide to the best time of year to fish walleye on Lake Oahe.

Can I bring my own boat?

Absolutely. With the follow-boat option you tag along, fish the same spots, and Wade keeps you off the stumps all day.
